The Taming of Judge Roy Bean

by Pat Cook

Wild West Texas – late 1800’s: “When I came here the place was overrun with robbers, cutthroats and thieves, so we hung the politicians and ever’thing seemed to even out”, declared Judge Roy Bean. Well things got pretty boring and then the Judge read a dime novel about Buffalo Bill. He figures his story should be told as well. The boys have just found a reporter to hang, so Butler Boone agrees to write the Judge’s bio in exchange for his freedom. Soon civilzation descends on Langtry, Texas in the form of school marms, pushy mothers, conniving matchmakers and an occasional gun-slinger. Farcical situations and wiscracks fly as fast as ricocheting bullets in this hilarious spoof of Western Justice.
